Yale Farm Youth Pizza Event.

We had a great day despite the ever present threat of rain.  Solar Youth got to learn more about Yale Farm, harvesting, and pizza making in the pizza oven.

Thanks again to Nadine Nelson, local chef.  This day was her idea to get our communities' kids to the Farm.  A big thank you also to Jacqueline Lewin, who patiently taught each of the kids to make their own pizza:)

History.Matters.

1879 Bird's Eye Map of Newhallville

There is a buzz in Newhallville regarding the historic designation of our neighborhood.  Some of the feedback has been positive, some negative.

Here are some  a visual reminders of how vibrant the Dixwell and Newhallville communities once were.  Commerce and enterprise were representative of our neighborhood.  Perhaps we need to see where we were in order to determine where we are going.

 254 Bassett Street c. 1905

 Dixwell & Argyle c. 1940

125-31 Dixwell Avenue c. 1925

A big thank you to Colin M. Caplan, local author and historian for use of the pictures depicted on the blog.  His amazing collection in its entirety, can be viewed here.

Arts on the Avenue Returns.

WRAP (Winchester Revitalization Art Project) will soon begin its Arts on the Avenue for Summer 2013.  All ages are welcome.
